‘HIERONYMUS BOSCH A VENEZIA’

The Doge’s apartment in the Doge’s Palace in St Mark’s Square will host the ‘Hieronymus Bosch a Venezia’ exhibition from 18 February to 4 June. The exhibition is dedicated to this famous and mysterious Flemish painter who lived in the city of his birth, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, from 1450 to 1516. He was remembered a year ago, on the occasion of his 5th centenary, with two big exhibitions in Madrid and his home city. The Venice exhibition at the Doge’s Palace now remembers the painter with two triptychs and four vertical panels held in the Gallerie dell’Accademia di Venezia. These works were recently the focus of a detailed restoration that highlighted some new clues, as the Nuova Venezia writes, that are very important for reconstructing the origins and impact of these works on Italian artistic life.
